40 Years of Leicester Caribbean Carnival

30th October
Serendipity Institute for Black Arts and Heritage, 8 Bowling Green Street, Leicester, LE1 6AT

Leicester Caribbean Carnival was founded in 1985 to promote togetherness and integration for everyone in Leicester, in the wake of civil unrest. This event will feature the premiere of a new documentary and publication to celebrate 40 years of the Leicester Caribbean Carnival. Poetry, interviews and archive materials celebrate the joy and creativity of the Caribbean Carnival as intangible cultural heritage alongside its continued relevance as a site of socio- political commentary and the struggle for emancipation.
