King James I even wrote a book on ‘Daemonologie’ outlining the ways in which sorcery and demons could corrupt. As such, certain measures and practices were undertaken to protect against such evils. Evidence of this is found throughout the historic house from markings on the walls & ceilings to burnings in wood and graffiti in windows. The wonderful volunteers will guide you on a tour through the house and you’ll learn about the various beliefs & superstitions of old and witness a collection of different marks made to protect the house from evil spirits. Tickets are £7, pre-Booking is Essential.
