There is so much happening in the north west of our county in and around the National Forest. From open air shows at Conkers to some of the biggest stars of the 90s to great local markets, there’s so much happening this summer


East Midlands Aeropark Open Weekend

Saturday 19-Monday 21 July

Celebrating the 60th anniversary of East Midland’s Airport, the fantastic East Midlands Aeropark is holding an extended weekend of family fun days. Crowds will be treated to flypasts by not only the Red Arrows but also aircraft from the RAF’s Battle of Britain Memorial Flight unit.

Taylored Swift at Conkers

Saturday 19 July

Conkers hosts fantastic open air concerts at their arena throughout the summer. Get ready for an electrifying night with this dynamic tribute to Taylor Swift, celebrating her biggest hits and unforgettable moments! Whether you’re a die-hard Swiftie or just love great music, this show is a must-see.

Barefoot Festival – Cattows Farm

Friday 25-Monday 28 July

Get back to nature and exlore your inner self at the Barefoot Festival. Whether you’re coming with family or friends, there’s plenty to enjoy. Creatives can dive into arts and crafts, while those seeking relaxation can find peace in various workshops, gong therapy, or simply by relaxing on the grass and enjoying the live music. As night falls, the festival transforms. Cabaret performers, live bands and DJs will ensure the party goes on under the stars. Get ready to dance the night away!

Snibston Colliery Tours

Sun 27 July, Sat 9 & Sun 27 August

Come and explore the region’s mining history at Snibston Colliery. Tour times – 11am and 1.30pm. Each tour is about 90 minutes. All tours start and finish at the Colliery Cafe. Adult £7, children under 14 free.

Jim’s Tractor Run: Ashby

Sunday 27 July

One of Ashby’s favourite summer events! See the Grand Tractor Display, vintage vehicles, archery, craft and charity stalls, Children’s rides, music & entertainment and a fun dog show. There’s also a dinosaur experience for the kids!


Heather Music Festival

Friday 1-Sunday 3 August

Celebrating 30 years of music at The Queens Head pub and St John’s FC in Heather. Live music, food and stalls all for £1 entry. Proceeds go to charity.

Bon Jovi UK at Conkers

Friday 1 August

Ready to rock at Conkers Arena! BON JOVI UK have become one of the top tribute bands in the country and will be putting on a fantastic live open air show.

Coalville Collectibles Market

Saturday 2 August

Join enthusiasts from around the region as Marlborough Square becomes a haven for comic books, collectors cars, toys and action figures. You’ll also be able to meet The UK Garrison Stormtroopers and Special guest Bob Brechin (Chief Palitoy Designer) to talk about his days working at the Coalville factory who designed Action Man, Star Wars and Care Bear toys.

80s The Decade Show at Conkers

Saturday 2 August

Grab the shell suit, throw on those leg warmers and travel back in time to the electric, eclectic 80’s! This fantastic open air show at the Conkers Arena promises a decade of classic songs classic movies and timeless memories. 

Heather Scarecrow Festival

Sunday 3-Sunday 10 August

The 26th Annual Heather Scarecrow Festival promises loads of amazing scarecrows made by the creative residents on display around the village. Scarecrow Guides can be purchased at various locations in the village for £3 which include a map, a Scarecrow Treasure Hunt and you can vote for your top 3 favourites. Come along and join the fun! 

Back 2 Festival at Cattows Farm

Thursday 7-Sunday 10 August

Come and see some of the stars of the 80s, 90s and noughties at Cattows farm. Featuring top acts including B*Witched, The Brand New Heavies, 2Unlimited, 911, Black Box, Chesney Hawkes and many more!

The Artisan Show

Friday 8-Sunday 10 August

The Artisan Show is a show like no other, held at Staunton Harold Hall, a beautiful Grade I listed Georgian Mansion and lake set on a 2000 acre parkland. With more than 200 artists and makers showcasing the very best in British Craftsmanship. This will include ceramics, art, jewellery, candles, blacksmiths, stone carvers, willow weavers, perfumes, skincare, leather, glass and much much more, not forgetting the delicious artisan food area.  

Ashby Pride

Saturday 9 August

Ashby Pride is a community-led charity run entirely by volunteers. This fantastic community event will fill the streets of Ashby with colour, celebrating diversity and promoting inclusivity. Expect musical acts and performances throughout the day, stalls lining the street, and of course a vibrant parade.

Foo Fighters GB at Conkers

Saturday 16 August

Promising one of the most authentic recreations of a Foo Fighters gig in the tribute world, this band has developed an enviable reputation, with years of hard work and a love of the Foo Fighters music. They use authentic instruments including a recreation of the actual drum kit used by the Foo Fighters at their legendary Glastonbury headline gig.

Country Bound at Conkers

This one-night-only Country Tribute spectacular featuring the incredible Country Bound Band! They’re bringing the heart and soul of Nashville to the Conkers Arena, with an electrifying mix of modern country hits, timeless classics, and even some pop favorites reimagined with a country twist.
