The Oadby Food Festival is back

The Oadby Food Festival is returning for 2025 on Saturday 30 August!

Last year saw the first ever Oadby Food Festival, a fantastic celebration of great local food and drink that brough the whole community of Oadby and Wigston together, plus enticed visitors from further afield!

And this year it’s coming back even bigger and better! Showcasing fantastic local food and drink, and bringing the whole community together, this amazing FREE EVENT is going to be one of the highlights of late summer!

What’s happening and when?

You are invited to come along to Oadby’s shopping Parade from 11am – 5pm on Saturday 30 August to sample the very best of the borough’s food and drink offer, with confirmed vendors offering something for everyone from flavourful curries and sweet treats to a taste of Italy.

Confirmed vendors for the day include the Hot Potato Shop, The Cow and Plough box car, Butter Brulee Cookies, Pizza Buddies, Chilli Guys, Hinglish, Wigston Deli, Smash Master burgers, That Filthy Food, Maclovin and many more still to be announced.

As well as trying out the local culinary delights there will be a party atmosphere all day long, with loads for the whole family to get involved with.

Special activities and celebrity guests

Visitors can expect a fantastic baking competition, free face painting, free samples and giveaways, a street party seating area, plus live music and dance acts all soundtracked by EAVA FM! The close-knit Oadby community really comes alive for this very special event! Oadby Wyggs rugby club, the Oadby Neighbourhood Mental Health Café, Be Leaf Yoga, plus representatives from the local churches, Gurdwara and Mosque will all be in attendance.

TV Chef Kwoklyn Wan will be appearing on the day to judge the baking competition and share his fantastic culinary journey, which started in Leicester’s first Chinese take-away and which he has brought to his many cookbooks and TV Shows. The Bake-Off Competition will be hotly contested again this year and all those who wish to enter need to submit their bake by 1pm at Oadby House (along with a list of ingredients/allergy info). And don’t forget your photo opps with Percy Pig and Colin the Caterpillar outside Marks & Spencer.

The Oadby Food Festival is promoted alongside Visit Leicester’s Taste the Place campaign, showcasing the very best local food and drink, from traditional English dishes right through to tastes from around the world.

The event takes place on Oadby’s main shopping street The Parade, which will be pedestrianised for the whole day. Parking is available within Oadby at the following locations. Please note that West and East Street car parks are likely to fill up quickly.

West Car Park: Sandhurst St, Oadby, Leicester LE2 5AR. Access from the A6 via main Oadby Parade turn-off.

East Street Car Park: Harborough Rd, Oadby, Leicester LE2 5AF. Access from the main A6.

Parklands Leisure Centre: Washbrook Ln, Oadby, Leicester LE2 5JJ. Approx 15 minute walk to Oadby Parade.
