get ready to stomp round leicester

July 3rd 2025

Stomp Round Leicester with one of our highlights of the summer, a trail of beautifully decorated elephants!

This summer in Leicester, you’re in for an elephantastic time as a painted parade of pachyderms take over the city centre. Running from 14 July to 21 September, Stomp Round Leicester trail the latest fundraising brainwave from local Hospice Loros.

This follows their amazing Rocket Round Leicester trail in 2021, which raised more than £317,000 for specialist patient care at the Leicester-based charity. Around 270,000 interacted with Rocket Round Leicester and the estimated additional visitor spend came to £9.87 million. Loros are hoping that this year’s trail brings similar benefits!

What’s it all about?

The concept is simple, large elephants decorated by local artists are placed at key locations around the city and visitors are encouraged to explore and find them all! But this year there are some added extras. There’s the main Big Elephant trail, a Baby Elephant trail decorated by local schools, colleges and community groups, but also some special mini elephants that have been decorated by celebrities including Greg Davies, Stephen Graham and Davina McCall.

Where can I find the elephants?

The trail will be dotted around the city centre but also in parks and streets on the outskirts of the city. A full map of the baby elephants is already available on the Loros website, with sculptures as far afield as Abbey Park, Narborough Road and Clarendon Park. The locations of all the large elephants will be released when the main trail goes live on Monday 14 July.

You can download the Stomp Round Leicester app to find the sculptures, upload photos, track your progress and collect rewards plus find out about events taking place throughout the summer. It’s time to get your comfy shoes on and start exploring! We’ll be putting together a few recommended routes (with refreshment stops) once the event itself launches!

What’s this all in aid of?

LOROS Hospice is a local charity who care for more than 2,500 people per year across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. They deliver free, high-quality, compassionate care and support to terminally ill patients, their family and carers at the most difficult times of their lives.

All the large elephants will be auctioned off on Wednesday 8 October, including those decorated by local celebrities. There will be opportunities to donate to LOROS throughout the trail, using QR codes on the elephants, or by using this link.
