Christmas on Stage in Leicestershire!

It’s the perfect time of the year to go to the theatre, with fantastic shows, hilarious pantomimes, live music and brilliant performances, we’ve got a run down of all the festive fun on stage in Leicester and Leicestershire this Christmas

The hills are alive with The Sound of Music at the Curve theatre this Christmas, as this classic musical, synonymous with Boxing Day telly, comes to Leicester. Starring Molly Lynch as Maria and David Seadon-Young as Captain von Trapp, this one is going to be an absolute treat! Tickets are selling fast, get them here

At De Montfort Hall this year, the panto of choice is Dick Whittington. This year it has an all-star cast including BBC Radio 2’s Richie Anderson, Hear Say and Emmerdale’s Suzanne Shaw and CBBC’s Rebecca Keatley. It is running throughout the Christmas period, from 12 December to 3 January. Tickets are available here

One of the highlights of Christmas in Leicester is always Charles Dickens’ great great grandson Gerald Dickens performing the Christmas classic A Christmas Carol at the Guildhall. On the 22 December he will give 2 performances, playing 26 different characters in full period costume. Get your tickets now!

This year Leicester’s The Little Theatre are performing Dick Whittington as their festive panto, running from 12 December to 4 January. This is a fantastic local production packed with great local talent! Tickets

Also coming to Curve is something for the little ones. Aliens Love Panta Claus is an adaptation of the fun kids book and sees a super-charged rabble of aliens and Santa Claus spreading festive knicker cheer. Tickets here

Goldilocks and the Three Bears is playing at Eyres Monsell Community Centre 21-22 November. Tickets

Flute and the Magic Wishing Well is the panto at the Venture Theatre Ashby de la Zouch, running from 27 November to 6 December. Tickets

Mother Goose comes to the Holy Trinity Centre in Hinckley from 4-7 December! Tickets

The Century Theatre in Coalville is one of the most historic and atmospheric theatres in the region and this year they will be performing Aladdin from 6-7 December and the 13-14 December. Tickets available here They also have special adults-only performances on the 6, 12 and 13 December which promise a raunchy and fun filled evening out! Aladdin Adults Only

Goldilocks is the panto of choice this year at the Sue Townsend Theatre in Leicester, performed by Leicester Countesthorpe St Andrews Scout Group and running from 13-14 December. Tickets

Coming to Mountsorrel Memorial Centre from 14-23 December is Sleeping Beauty, which they’re promising is their funniest and most spectacular pantomime ever! Tickets

The Peepul Centre always have great pantos and this year they’re going to be performing Jack and the Beanstalk, running from 14 December right up to Christmas Eve. Tickets

Get ready for a magical journey like no other as Boxtale Soup present Alice in Wonderland, a panto made especially for young kids, with puppets, interactive sets and a relaxed atmosphere. Tickets

With a small cast playing dozens of characters, real-time sound effects, and timeless holiday spirit, the Festival Players perform the classic Christmas film It’s a Wonderful Life at Mountsorrel Memorial Centre from 2-4 December. Tickets

On 5 December enter the Guildhall after dark and embrace the darker side of the festive season with a special event featuring the legendary Krampus. Tickets

The spooky Christmas vibes continue at the Guildhall with a lantern-lit evening of Spooky Tales and a Yuletide tipple. Shows on the 5, 12 and 20 December. Tickets

A musical murder mystery written by one of the company themselves, Claus of Death will be at Fleckney Village Hall from 5-6 December. Tickets

On 12 December Santa’s brother Farmer Christmas invites under 5s and their families for a magical event filled with festive cheer and enchanting stories, around the magnificent fireplace in the Mayor’s Parlour at Leicester Guildhall. Tickets

Join Father Christmas and his Elves for a Dickens of a Christmas at Leicester Guildhall. Spend some quality time with Santa & place an extra special Christmas wish on the Magic Wish Tree. There are a number of events on 12, 13, 20 and 21 December. Tickets

Chorus Theatre’s acclaimed production of A Christmas Carol will be visiting the Venture Theatre in Ashby de la Zouch on 13 December as part of its 2025 tour. Tickets
