Christmas in Oadby & Wigston

Are you ready for Christmas in Oadby & Wigston? There are three lights switch on events taking place this year, full of fantastic fun for the whole family!

The Oadby Festive Lights Switch On is the first to take place, not just in the district, but also across the county! On Saturday 15 November, the Parade will be closed to traffic and a special event running from 12noon to 7pm will celebrate the season and provide a chance for the community to celebrate! There’s free parking during event times too.

All are welcome to join this celebration of the festive season. There will be a Santa’s Grotto, Craft Stalls, Food and Drinks, kids activities and live entertainment on offer throughout the day. The lights will go on at 6pm, marking the start of the Christmas period in Oadby!

On Saturday 29 November come along to Wigston’s Bell Street for some Christmas magic. The fun will start at 12noon and run through to 7pm. There will be fantastic rides for the kids from the award winning Billy Bates Funfair, a Harborough FM sound stage featuring fantastic local talent including Wigston Enterprise Band, Wigston Community Chor and many more.

Father Christmas will make a special appearance, arriving from his North Pole workshop at 4pm, and the lights will be switched on at 6pm. Best of all, all the Wigston town centre car parks will be free of charge from 12 noon on the day. Come along and help Wigston kick off the Christmas fun!

There are Christmas Capers aplenty in South Wigston on Saturday 6^th December as the lights switch on takes place. Starting from 1pm, there will be more than 60 craft and gift stalls, street entertainment, the Billy Bates Funfair, Bird of Prey and late night shopping too!

In addition to this there will be a steam engine and music organ, a display from the Police and Fire service, and even Transformers! You will be able to find a Santa’s Grotto in Elliott Hall and there will be free parking free parking during event times too. The lights go on at 5.30pm. This will be the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit!
